Assistant Superintendent -
Dr. Rev. Richard Lafferty has served as the Assistant Superintendent for the Southern New England Ministry Network and General Presbyter since 2000. He served as the Sectional Presbyter for Western Massachusetts from 1993-2000. He currently is a member of the Board of Trustees for Zion Bible College in Bradford MA. Dr. Lafferty has also taught for Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary as a visiting instructor and in the graduate school for Global University.
Dr. Lafferty began serving as Senior Pastor of the Riverside Assembly of God in July 2000. Previously, he served as Sr. Pastor of the Assemblies of God church in Westfield, MA and Kenton, OH. His ministry experience also includes serving as a youth pastor in the Chicago area and church planter in north central Ohio. He was born in 1953 in Willard, Ohio and lived there until moving on from college.
His education includes undergraduate degrees in electronic engineering from North Central State College in Ohio and Biblical Studies from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. Graduate studies were done at Winebrenner Theological Seminary in Findlay, Ohio; he earned an M.A. in Biblical Literature from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, MO; an M.A.R. in Theology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia; and a D.Min, in Leadership from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. His doctoral dissertation is entitled, "Toward's a Biblical Philosophy for the Pentecostal Deacon."
Dr. Lafferty and his wife Ellen, a native of the Mansfield, Ohio area, were married in 1977. They have one child, a son Joel who is a student at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, MO.
